Mrs. Metz - 3rd Grade
1. What do you teach/do at Branch?
I teach 3rd grade.
2. What is your favorite school subject?
My favorite school subject is math.
love math so much, I chose to do my masters in math education.
3. Why did you choose your profession?
I chose to be a teacher because I loved school as a kid, and I want to make school exciting for the next generations to come.
4. Why did you decide to work at Branch?
I decided to work at Branch to work with military kids. I'm a military spouse, so I can relate to some of the situations the kids encounter as being part of the Air Force.
5. What advice would you give to incoming students?
I would advise that you be prepared for extreme weather and bring the proper gear to school.
Mr. Burgess - 3rd Grade
1. What do you teach/do at Branch?
I teach 3rd grade at Branch Elementary.
2. What is your favorite school subject?
I've always loved reading.
3. Why did you choose your profession?
Some of the most influential people in my life growing up, the people who had the biggest impact, were teachers. I suppose, as a result, I grew up with a lot of respect for teachers and the profession.
4. Why did you decide to work at Branch?
Straight out of college, after finishing my teaching credential, I went to a job fair in Bakersfield. There was a small booth for Muroc Joint Unified School District; which I had never heard of before. I spoke with the superintendent at the time, and she told me about an elementary school located on Edwards Airforce Base. I thought it sounded pretty interesting...and now I've been teaching here for more than a decade!
5. What advice would you give to incoming students?
Honestly one of the biggest factors associated with student success is attitude. You have to be willing to try new things, willing to ask questions, willing to participate, willing to collaborate, and willing to sometimes struggle.
